About Me

Passion for Animation
Waldemar Fast is a director and animator known for breathing life into characters with heart, humor, and cinematic flair. With a background in both traditional 2D animation and cutting-edge 3D production, he has spent over two decades shaping animated worlds across feature films, television, and streaming platforms.
His artistic journey began in Cologne, where he studied classical animation, followed by a diploma in visual effects at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Since then, Waldemar has worked with some of the industry’s most respected studios, including Studio Soi, Trixter, ARRI VFX, and Virgin Lands. His filmography includes celebrated titles like Room on the Broom and The Gruffalo—both Oscar-nominated—as well as feature films such as Stung, Saphirblau, Little Medicus, Mullewapp, and Hexe Lilli. His contributions span storyboarding, character animation, previs, and modeling, always with a keen eye for performance and storytelling.
In 2025, Waldemar made his directorial debut with Grand Prix of Europe, a full-length animated feature produced by Mack Magic and Warner Bros. The film, starring Europa-Park’s beloved mascots Ed & Edda, combines fast-paced adventure with rich, character-driven storytelling—and marks a major milestone in his creative evolution.
Fluent in both German and English, Waldemar bridges cultures and genres with ease. Whether working on a stylized short or a blockbuster feature, he brings clarity, charm, and deep narrative instinct to every project.
Waldemar Fast is not just an animator—he’s a storyteller who knows how to move audiences, one frame at a time.
