Ed & Edda: Grand Prix of Europe is a fast-paced animated adventure that follows two lovable mice—Ed, the four-time Grand Prix champion, and Edda, a spirited teenager with big dreams—as they race across the continent in a high-stakes journey full of humor, heart, and horsepower. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Europe, the film blends colorful characters, thrilling race sequences, and a heartfelt story about courage, teamwork, and believing in yourself.
I’m Waldemar Fast, and it was one of the greatest honors of my career to direct this film. From the very beginning of development in 2022 until its completion in 2025, I had the immense joy of bringing Ed and Edda’s world to life alongside an incredibly talented and passionate team. As someone who has always loved animation, storytelling, and fast-paced road movies, this project was a dream come true. The journey was intense, creative, and deeply rewarding.

Grand Prix of Europe is also a celebration of Europa-Park’s 50th anniversary and marks the very first feature-length cinema release starring its beloved mascots. Produced by MACK Magic in collaboration with Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, and animated by the brilliant artists at MACK Animation, the film brings the park’s signature charm and imagination to the big screen for audiences around the world.
The story follows Edda as she unexpectedly finds herself in the driver’s seat at the legendary 50th Grand Prix of Europe, teaming up with her childhood hero Ed to help save her father’s struggling fairground business. Along the way, they face eccentric rivals, surprising turns, and the greatest challenge of all—learning to truly trust one another.

The film features an international voice cast, including Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Ed and Gemma Arterton as Edda, along with Hayley Atwell, Lenny Henry, and Rob Beckett. The original score was composed by Academy Award winner Volker Bertelmann, whose music brings emotional depth and high-energy rhythm to every twist and turn of the race.

Beyond the film itself, Grand Prix of Europe launches a broad transmedia world, including a brand-new dark ride at Europa-Park, toy figurines, a video game (Racing Champions), an audio play, a children’s book, and a Tonie figure—all set to release alongside the film in summer 2025.
Working on this project was not just a job—it was a three-year journey full of laughter, challenges, late-night breakthroughs, and unforgettable collaboration. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait for families, children, and animation lovers to experience the ride.
Ed & Edda: Grand Prix of Europe hits cinemas worldwide on July 24, 2025. Buckle up—this is a race you won’t want to miss.
